Day 1:  Leave the Valley after a reverse pickup and travel east through th southernmoost portion of the Tonto National Forest.  You will head along the famous Apache Trail through the former silver mining boom towns of Superior and Globe, entering the San Carlos Indian Reservation.  Pass through Show Low and arrive in the historic town of Snowflake.  Snowflake was established as a Mormon Church Community by Erastus Snow and William Flake in 1878.  Here you will take an historic Walking Tour of Pioneer homes,  The tour begins at the Smith Pioneer home and contiues on by 17 other Historic buildings, fine examples of Victorian, Georgian, Greek Revival, Gothic, Colonial and Neoclassical architecture, covering about 1 1/2 miles .  You will then continue on to Chinle to spend the next twio nights.

Day 2:  This morning you will take a rim tour of Canyon de Chelly then go to the Thunderbird Lodge for lunch ( on your own) with timee to explore its gift shop.  Then join your Navajo guide for a tour down into the Canyon de Chelly National Monument to view archeological sites where some cliffs are covered with ancient pictographs and huge stone formations that rise hundreds of feet above the ground.  You will then return to Chinle for the night.

Day 3:  Today you will start for home stopping at the Hubbell Trading Post Nationa Historic Site in Ganado.  Members of the Navajo, Hopi and Zuni tribes come to sell their crafts at the trading post.  Aat the visitor center you will see weaving and silversmithing demonstrations and receive a self-guiding booklet of the site.  Leaving here you will travel through the salt River Canyon, the "Grand Canyon You can Drive into" 2000 feet deep with sedimentary rock layers visible from the road.  You should arrive back in the Valley of the Sun around 10:00 p.m.

Fort Apache and CornadoTrail

August 14-16, 2012 (Tue-Thurs)

Day 1: Travel east through saguaro cactus lands and the southern most portion of the Tonto National Forest. You will head along the famous Apache Trail throught the former silver mining boom towns of Superior and Globe before arriving at the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and the world renowned Fort Apache, recognized as the screen home of such notables as John Wayne and Rin Tin Tin. The Fort is being developed into an historic park including the Fort Apache Culture Center and a re-creation of an Apache Village. Several of the historical buildings have been restored with many original walls still standing. You will take a walking tour of this area with a story tell from the fort.

Day 2: Continue east throught the White Mountains to the Coronado Trail. This Scenic byway is named after Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, the Spanish explorer who in 1540 sought the fabled Seven Cities of Cibola. The trail commemorates the route he followed more that 450 years ago and much of the terrain it goes through remains the same as it was then.

Continue throught the arreas where both Cochise and Geronimo fought valiantly for their people’s freedom and land. You will visit the carefully perserved adobe walls of various post buildings and thr ruins of a butterfield Sstage Station at Fort Bowie. Here peace was made with Cochise after the government promised him land for his tribe. After Cochise died, the promised land was stolen back by the government and Geronimo became the new Apache leader and led his warriors in a series of raids. Fort Bowie was the site of many struggles: the false accusation that Cochise kidnapped a white chid; a wagon train massacre and the battle of Apache Pass. the crumbling ruins of Fort Bowie stands as a symbol to all who lost their lives in a clash of cultures. We will overnight in Wilcox.

Day 3: Once an Old West Saloon, the Rex Allen Arizona Cowboy Museum, in Wilcox is dedicated to thee famous singing Cowboy. The influence of the Old West on modern times is evedence in the memorbilla from cowboy movies of the 1940’s and 50’s and an area fosingont ttes and life in the west.

The Cochise Stronghold is a rugged natural fortress where the famed Chiricahua Apache Chief holed up with about a thousand of his trip and a couple hundred warriors. When the United States took control of the surrounding territory, Cochise’s raiders would sweep down from the stronghold harassing whites by raiding ranches and attacking stagecoaches. In his declining years he bowed to the inevitable and negotiated a treaty with the whites, allowing his band of Apaches to stay in their homeland where he died peacefully on the newly formed Chiricahua Reservation in 1874.

After lunch (on you own) start for home with a dinner break (on your own) along the way. You should arrive back in the Valley of the Sun around 9:00 p.m.

Day 1: Travel into Southern California and head to San Diego with rest stops and a lunch break along the way. At Seaport Village you can explore early California courtyards, enchanting Mexican Villages, Seaport boardwalks, and discover treasures from far off lands while shopping on the waterfront. Check in to our hotel and get ready to go back to Gas Light Area for Dinner / show included. Hote: Comfort Inn Suites - Hotel Circle.

Day 2: After breakfast, fully cooked at the Hotel, we will head to the South Coastal Mountains in Temecula for a fun day at the Callaway Winery Harvest Festival. Enjoy the many activities available at the festiival, wine tasting, dancing, music, a great lunch on us, and the highlight of the day, Grape Stomping Madness. Join in the fun of stomping the ripe grapes between your toes as was done in the past in the old country.

Day 3: Breakfast at the Hotel, then check out and go to Old Town area where you will have time to shop, eat a light lunch - see many displays, like iron workers and etc. and then start for home around 2:00 p.m. making a dinner stop in Yuma on your own. Should arrive back in the valley approx around 10-11 p.m.

San Diego Deep Sea Fishing

Don’t forget an ice chest for your catch and plastic bags for your fishing clothes.

Day 1 - Note we will be leaving around 8:00 p.m. Friday night and sleeping on the bus in our fishing clothes - arriving in time to have a good hardy breakfast, on your own, before we arrive at Seaforth Fishing - with our gear - if you don’t have any you can rent for an additonal cost.

Day 2 - WE WILL CHECK IN AND GET ALL READY TO DEPART AT 6:30 A.M. AND WILL BE OUT UNTIL AROUND 4:00 P.M … FOR A FULL DAY OF OCEAN FISHING. Rod and reel, bait and fishing sack and fishing license included in price of tour. Bring your own ice chest to store your days catch. They will clean your fish on board ship and cool it for us until the next day…Off to the hotel for the night.

Day 3 - Check out of your hotel about 10:00 a.m., board your motorcoach, go and get your fish and be sure it is packed well and start for home with rest stops along the way, arriving bck in the Valley of the sun approx. 8 p.m.

Day 1: Depart from the valley early and travel toward California - remember you set your watch back one hour as you cross into the California area for the next couple of days.

You will go directly to your hotel and check in. This evening you can eat in many places around the area and then at 7:00 p.m. we will have our "NEW YEAR CELEBRATION WITH NEW YORK, CHAMPAGNE AND ALL — PARTY TIME — BUT TO BED EARLY!!!

Day 2: Happy New Year ! Up early this morning for breakfast, check out of your hotel, board your waitning motor coach and head to the 124th Tourament of Roses Parade. You will enjoy excellent bleacher seating (easy steps to clim) on the Colorado Blvd. Bus parking is directly behind your seats so you won’t have farr to walk. After you see the spirited marching bands from throughout the nationk, majestic floral floats, and high stepping equestrian units, you will be met at your motorcoach by your guide with a box lunch and beverage. Eat, relax and enjoy yourselves as you driver works hiis way out of the very busy parking lot. We will make a stop at Hadleys famous Date Farm s you head for home. We will continue our journey home with a dinner stop (on your own) along the way, arriving back in the Valley of the Sun around midnight.

Remember, these seats are premium seating and cost the most of all seats on the parade route.

** Day 2. Today after breakfast we will have a drive by City Tour and end with a one hour harbor cruise of the San Diego harbor and Navy Shipyard.  Evening dinner show at a local playhouse.

** Day 3.  We will check out of this hotel and head for Mexico.  After crossing the border, we will continue to Ensenada.  Here we will have a drive by city tour as we work our way out to the Blow Hole - one of the largest in the world.  Plus we will have a one hour Whale Watching Boat Ride - and view the Grey Whales.

** Day 4.  This morning after breakfast on our own.. we will check out and go to Roserita Beach - great shopping, see the Titanic Exhibit (Opt) on the making of the Titanic..relax and enjoy.  Early afternoon we will start for home.  We will have a dinner stop (on your own ) in Yuma and a rest stop in Gila Bend arriving back in the Valley between 10:00 - 11:00 pm
